The implementation of sustainable development principles and the minimization of environmental harm are the main indicators of ecological responsibility. Nowadays, companies have access to different strategies to achieve this goal. The International Renewable Energy Certificate (I-REC) mechanism for monitoring the origin of electricity is one such tool. I-REC certificates confirm the production of electricity from alternative sources. The I-REC standard is the largest block of countries participating in a single certification standard for renewable energy sources outside of the EU and North America. Over 8,000 companies worldwide report on their energy consumption, documenting it with I-REC certificates. On the Green Technology Hub platform, renewable energy producers can find buyers, and companies can purchase certificates confirming the use of renewable electricity.
